On 1 July 2007 the hospitals, institutions and services of the Order in Australia and New Zealand were transferred to St. John of God Australia Ltd. - a public juridical person that sponsors St. John of God Health Care.

St. John of God Health Care operates 14 hospitals, a community hospice, a pathology service and a wide range of outreach programmes - which were significantly increased by the addition of the Order's disability services in Victoria and New Zealand.

The Australasian Province of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God is a member of St. John of God Australia Ltd. The Brothers of the Province in Australia and New Zealand may either work in facilities of St John of God Health Care or carry out individual ministries within other religious and or charitable organisations. Some members of the Province work towards supporting the presence of the Order in Papua New Guinea.
